FIND A CREDIBLE RESUME FIRM

- Ensure that they are
registered members of a valid association such as the Professional Association of Resume Writers or Career Professionals of
Canada.
- Check if they have at
least one of the two most important US and Canadian certifications – Certified
Resume Strategist (CRS) and/or Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW)
- Evaluate the content and design
of the firm’s website. If the website is clear, readable, and spectacular, you
have a better chance of receiving a strong document.
- Review their samples
closely. All reputable firms will provide you with samples of their work.
Ensure that they are not using templates and compare them with some of our samples.
- Determine if you are in
the market for the best
product or the cheapest price. The lowest cost is not a bargain if you have a
longer search or need to retain another firm to redo the resume.
- Make certain that you
have a reasonable amount of time strategizing directly with your writer. Don’t
get trapped working only with a typist, questionnaire, or on-line.
- Select someone who specializes
in your niche rather than a “one-size-fits-all” writer. A strong resume firm
will have experts at opening doors for your level and area of expertise.
- Work with a firm that has
